A JA class and their teacher

Junior Achievement is all about kids -- teaching them to value the free enterprise system, giving them a basic understanding of economics, showing them the connection between careers and what they are learning in school, providing them with the tools to become successful adults.

This section of our website is written for, about, and, in many cases, by students, as they participate in the Junior Achievement program.

Explore the concepts of Mass vs Unit Production with fifth-graders at Lake Michigan Catholic Elementary by "Making Pens", join a group of second grade students on their site visit to Whirlpool Corporation to see the practical application of classroom lessons in the photo essay, "Visiting Whirlpool". Read an unusual thank-you note received by one of our consultants, "Thank You, Mrs. Kelly". Or, see how one third grade put their JA newspaper lesson to practical use in highlighting all of the Our City JA program in "Lancer World". "Mrs. Briney's Bunch: 5th Grade Entrepreneurs" detail one class's decision to start and manage their own business, with part of the proceeds going to a charity in memory of a friend.

For a change of pace, "Success Teaches Success" lets us drop in on two high school classes and their guests for the day.

If you are a teacher, a consultant, or a student, and would like to share some aspect of your JA experience with us all, please call us at (269) 983-7579 or email info@michianaja.org.
