More Americans than ever are demanding that companies play an active role in supporting social needs despite an economic downturn.
ROI: A 1999 Cone, Inc. survey found that 83% of American consumers have a more positive image of companies that align with causes, 66% trust companies that support causes they care about, and 77% prefer that companies commit to a specific cause for a long period of time.
A partnership with Junior Achievement offers a unique opportunity to showcase a business’s commitment to community citizenship, and is a “win-win” opportunity for all involved:
Employees of businesses that “give back” to their community generally feel a stronger sense of loyalty to their companies. |
Businesses who support JA financially are helping to train their future work forces. |
Businesses who encourage their employees to volunteer for JA are enhancing their workforce’s “people skills” and presentation abilities. |
Hosting site visits, supporting us financially, volunteering for Junior Achievement are all good community relation tools. |
Community members who make purchasing, investing, and employment decisions tend to favor businesses that invest in the futures of their children. |
There are many ways your business can participate in JA:
Donate. JA does not benefit from any united campaigns or recieve funding from state or local tax dollars. JA programs are funded primarily through donations by individuals, businesses, service clubs, and foundations (see Investor Circle.) Many area businesses also support us financially through school, Class and Special Events sponsorships, as well as through In-Kind Support. For more information on how you can help fund JA in Michiana, please see our Donation Options page, call (269) 983-7579 or email info@michianaja.org

Volunteer. Area businesses make another major contribution to JA's success: they encourage their employees to volunteer, on company time, to present JA programs. Some businesses actively recruit classroom volunteers, knowing that JA benefits everyone involved. Click here for a list of businesses and organizations who support JA consultants. If you're interested in voluntering yourself, please take a look at our Volunteer For JA and Program Descriptions sections! |

Host a visit. Part of the JA program is a job site visit, where students can relate what they learned in the classroom to life in the actual workforce. Sometimes, a volunteer's place of business does not lend itself well to a job site visit, for one reason or another--so we call on other area businesses to host a class tour. Many business people, meeting a JA classroom for the first time, are surprised not only by the enthusiasm and knowledge of the students, but also by how much fun they have themselves! Please come along on a site visit with a group of second graders as they are "Visiting Whirlpool"! |
Please browse through our site, familiarize yourself with our programs and participating schools, see what businesses in the community are supporting JA. Then, please call us at (269) 983-7579 or email info@michianaja.org to let us know what part you'd like to play in the success of Michiana students! |
